On Sunday morning, Ain Shams University held a ceremony entitled “Martyr’s Right” under the auspices of Prof. Khaled Abd ElGafaar Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, HE Hilmi Al-Namnem, Minister of Culture. Abdul Wahab Ezzat, President of the University and Prof. Fathi Al-Sharqawi, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs, in the presence of His Eminence Anba Ermia, General Bishop and head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, Dr. Nadia Zakhari, Former Minister of Scientific Research, Mr. Ahmed Awad, Head of Cultural Development Fund, Global Mack up artist Dr. Mohamed Ashoub, President of the Afro-Asian Association, and a group of university professors and students.
The festival began with the screening of a film entitled “Angels of Mercy,” which show the reality that Egypt face by fighting terrorism and the condition of families of martys who sacrificed with their lives for their country.
During their speeches, Prof. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Prof. Fathi Al-Sharqawi, His Grace Anba Ermia, Prof. Tariq Mansour, Coordinator of the celebration and makeup artist Dr. Mohammed Ashoub expressed the appreciation and gratitude of every Egyptian in this country, for army and police martyrs for up spreading security and peace in Egypt, stressing that the University of Ain Shams is a part of society influence in and affected by it which is the motivation behind organizing such a celebration, which coincides with Egypt celebrations of Martyr’s Day; which comes on the 9th of March each year.
A number of martyr’s families of the army, police and civilians who were affected by black terror were also honored, and stressed that the national unity between Muslims and Copts is the force against any attempts to destabilize security and peace of the homeland or to undermine its determination and steadfastness in facing the enemy.
Actor Mohamed Fouad received a shield honoring his brother martyr Ibrahim Fuad, Abdel Wahab Ezzat also granted the university shield for both actor Sameh Yousry and great poet Abdel Aziz Goudeh, as they presented part of their musics and poets at the celebration.
Prof. Abdul Wahab Ezzat also honored Director Dr. Walid Al-Darmalli Director of Angels of Mercy film, the cast, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Director of Media Center and Media Coordinator of the event, and Mr. Samir Abdel Nasser, Assistant Secretary General of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector.
Then, “Melody Lovers” band performed a series of national songs that were admired by the audience followed by honoring Maestro Dr. Mohamed Abdel Sattar, the band’s leader.
It is worth mentioning that the celebration was held in the context of the cultural season of the University and organized by the community service and environmental development sector headed by Prof. Nazmi Abdul Hamid in cooperation with Cultural Development Fund.
