The Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Ghada Wali, Acting Governor of Cairo, Major General Ahmed Timor, HG Bishop Ermia General Bishop and Chairman of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center witnessed the celebration of groundbreaking the new 57357 Medical Complex in the land adjacent to the hospital and that was granted to the hospital by the Presidency of Ministers Council and Cairo governorate.
Celebration was witnessed by 57357 hospital’s director Dr. Sherif Abul Naga, 57357 Foundation Secretary General Dr. Tarek Thabetm, chairman of the Friends of the national initiative against cancer Dr. Lutfi Badrawim, a representative from Al-Azhar, representatives from a number of ministries and organizations and an elite group of artists.
Hospital’s Director reviewed the new medical complex project in which the first phase will include the establishment of a building for outpatient clinics on 8,500 square meters, a center for radioactive protons treatment and a building dedicated for the Academy of Medical Sciences and in the second phase a building housing new 350 new beds, an administrative building and a center for scientific research will be established on 2,500 square meters .
He added that the new complex will contribute in increasing the capacity of the hospital, enhance facilities and is provided with the latest medical equipment, allowing the reception and treatment of larger number of patients and ensures a superior therapeutic services for children with this disease and reach the higher cure rate in childhood cancer.
For his part, Information Officer of 57357 foundation Hisham Abdul Salam confirmed that 57357 medical complex project is a medical, scientific and educational significant achievement in the field of childhood cancer in Egypt,the Middle East and Africa and is a model for cooperation and coordination between the civil society and government which reflects the government’s keenness toward social responsibility and support of development projects that aim at the advancement of society.
